Hospitality students host Celebration Gala Dinner alongside Star Chef
Steven Doherty, the first three-starred Michelin Chef, will host a Celebration Gala Dinner alongside UHI Perth students in the Treetops restaurant on Tuesday 14 May.
Arriving on the Monday, he will prep with Level 5 students and then cook the dinner on the Tuesday with HNC students.
Steven is leading the dinner to celebrate the student’s final dinner and the re-launch of the Scottish Highland Chef competition, started by Albert Roux and now supported by the Master Chefs of Great Britain.
The first Briton in history to run a three-starred Michelin restaurant working as the Head Chef at Le Gavroche for Albert Roux, Steven was in charge for four years, maintaining incredibly high standards and cementing his status as a legendary chef.
Ype van der Schaaf, UHI Perth Hospitality and Food Studies Sector Manager explained: "Through the Young Highland Chef competition at UHI Perth, Steve has developed a close working relationship with students and rewarded them with this Celebration Gala Dinner. It involves the students cooking and serving a great classical menu to celebrate the end of their academic year and the success of the Scottish Highland Chef Competition. Guests will enjoy a menu featuring delights such as: Local Wild Garlic Velouté and Haggis Bonbons; Scallops classically served in the Shell, Chicken Filled with Mousseline, Bourguignon Style and Spring Vegetables and Chilled Lemon Soufflé Laced with Limoncello, completed by Petit Fours: Coffee, Rich Chocolate, Florentine and Pâte de Fruits."
