Inverness

Learn in the capital of the Highlands. A stone's throw away from the Cairngorm National Park- the largest National Park in the UK- Inverness is an extraordinary location for hiking, camping and world-class water and winter sports.

Discover international surfing competitions in Thurso, the UK’s Outdoor Capital in Fort William, the magical fairy pools on the Isle of Skye or see the 9000 year old Calanais Standing Stones on the Isle of Lewis.

Green hills and a bay on the Shetland islands

Shetland

With so much to do across 100 islands, you can cycle, walk and climb outside, visit the most northerly cinema in the UK, and be surrounded by a prolific arts community. Enjoy the white sandy beaches and clear blue water with wild swimming, surfing or sailing. You can scuba dive to explore underwater caves, historic ship wrecks as well as a reef teaming with wildlife. See the otters, orcas and dolphins, and of course, the tiny Shetland ponies!

Experience the Up Helly Aa festival, a Viking fire festival where thousands come together to dress up as Vikings, dance and burn a Viking gallery boat. Walk in the footsteps of Vikings in this UNESCO Global Geopark.

Scottish Association for Marine Science

Study at the university on the beach in Oban, on the West coast of Scotland. Be a part of a dynamic and supportive social community, living in the great outdoors amidst spectacular scenery. Go for a swim in the sea between lectures, meeting up with friends for a mountain hike or bike ride. Throw yourself into the great outdoors, with sailing, white-water rafting, climbing and skiing on your doorstep. Join an inclusive community, where students define their own niche.
