Marine scientist’s graduation marks university milestone
A microplastics researcher from Wales became the first person to graduate with a doctorate from the university. Winnie Courtene-Jones from Cardigan was presented with the qualification at the Scottish Association for Marine Science UHI graduation ceremony in Oban.

A marine ecologist was awarded a fellowship to address global food shortage by recycling waste from food production industries - with the help of the humble sea cucumber. Dr Georgina Robinson of the Scottish Association for Marine Science UHI was awarded a UK Research and Innovation Future Leaders Fellowship worth £1.2 million.
