Dell issues warning of recent data breach
Dell has issued a warning of a data breach which could have affected up to 49 million users.
Dell has issued a warning of a data breach where a threat actor has claimed to have stolen information of its users.
Dell have reported they have already begun emailing the data breach notifications to customers yesterday and are investigating the incident.
Dell have also stated, "We believe there is not a significant risk to our customers given the type of information involved."
The information believed to have been access included:
- Name
- Physical address
- Dell hardware and order information, including service tag, item description, date of order, and related warranty information
They have advised that the financial and payment information, as well as contact information was not amongst the information that was stolen.
We remind all users to be mindful of good security practices and to be especially wary of any contact from email or post claiming to be Dell asking you to preform unusual tasks, such as changing password, installing software or disclosing any other information.
