HRH The Princess Royal to make her first visit to Perth College UHI
Perth College UHI has announced it is set to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, for the first time, in her capacity as Chancellor of the University of the Highlands and Islands to its Crieff Road campus and hangar at Scone Airport. The official visit will take place on Wednesday 20 February.
Dr Thomas Moore, Perth College UHI Principal and Chief Executive said: "HRH The Princess Royal was installed as the first-ever University of the Highlands and Islands Chancellor last June and we are honoured to have the opportunity to show her the excellent work our college does in providing a university education for our local community and beyond."
At the Crieff Road campus, The Princess Royal is due to visit the theatre and recording studios; social and vocational studies, hair salon; joinery and motor vehicle workshops. She will also meet those involved in an innovative industry partnership between Perth College UHI and Sodexo and present an award to Alumnus of the Year 2012, David Reid.
The Royal visit will then encompass a visit to the hanger at Perth Airport, Scone to hear about the new Dunne Aeronautical Laboratory, which is set to provide aircraft engineering students with state-of-the-art learning and research facilities. She will meet students and staff and unveil a plaque to commemorate her visit.
