Kristin Linklater
The University of the Highlands and Islands community is saddened to learn of the death of Kristin Linklater. Kristin, who was one of the most recognised names in voice production and Shakespeare training, was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the university at the Orkney College UHI graduation ceremony in 2017.
Professor Crichton Lang, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of the Highlands and Islands, said:
“Orkney is renowned for its musicians, artists and writers, so we felt it was important to recognise Kristin as someone with such a distinguished career in the arts. We welcomed Kristin and her brother Magnus as speakers at the university’s 2017 annual lecture and greatly enjoyed hearing Kristin’s sage advice and inspiring, entertaining stories. Kristin will be greatly missed but her legacy will continue through the success of her students. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.”
Professor Edward Abbott-Halpin, Principal of Orkney College UHI said that Kristin was widely recognised as an inspirational and highly accomplished leader of arts in Orkney and will be sadly missed.
