Hairdressing students showcase talent at dolls themed photoshoot

Each year, UHI Argyll Hairdressing students complete a photoshoot as part of their SVQ 3 course. The theme is chosen by the students and this year they chose the theme ‘dolls’.

The event is a highlight in the Hairdressing students calendars and much anticipated as the end of the year approaches.

First and second year students supported the shoot – a valuable rehearsal for an event they will eventually rise to themselves, and the willing models were friends of the students.

The dolls theme allowed students to get creative when styling not only the model’s hair, but makeup and outfits too. Lecturer Sarah commented on how the students used techniques learned throughout the course such as curling, crimping, and using roller sets and accessories to create a variety of hair up and down looks.

The students drew inspiration from a variety of sources, and created mood boards to help visualise their ideas.

The photos were taken on the beach front, a stone’s throw away from the college salon, and the calm weather and blue skies were very welcome!

Commenting on the photoshoot, lecturer Sarah said:

‘It really is a day of fun and excitement! I am very proud of how the girls bring it all together, showcasing their talents and working as a team to provide the finished look. The students and I are very happy with the end result.’
