The programme will additionally have a special focus on filming in remote areas so that production companies will have a pool of talent in the north and north-east.

Openbrolly, the leading SaaS supplier for the film and TV industry in the UK has announced the partnership with Screen Moray and UHI with support from Screen Highland.

Together, they are launching an invaluable live educational programme designed to prepare students for careers in the film and television industry.

Anna McPherson, Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Contemporary Filmmaking in the Highlands and Islands programme, said: “This innovative partnership will enhance the student experience by providing them with a tool used by production and location managers working in the industry. They can use it to access data about film locations, helping them plan better for their own productions. We’re delighted to be able to pilot this tool next session with our industry partners.”

Openbrolly’s flagship software system, MovieSite, is revolutionising the way students engage with the film and TV industry. By integrating with Screen Moray, Screen Highland, and UHI, MovieSite provides a hands-on, real-world learning experience that bridges the gap between education and industry. The collaboration offers students free and unparalleled access to industry-standard tools and practices, ensuring they are well-prepared for the competitive world of film and television production.

Sam Hill, CEO of Openbrolly: “We are thrilled to partner with Screen Moray, Screen Highland, and UHI. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to nurturing the next generation of filmmakers. By providing students with access to MovieSite and real-world filming experiences, we are equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in this dynamic industry.”

Marc Hindley, Director of Screen Moray: “This partnership is a superb opportunity for students to gain first-hand experience in film and TV production. Filming in remote areas presents unique challenges, and our collaboration with Openbrolly ensures that students are well-prepared to tackle these head-on.”

The partnership is committed to supporting both local and online students. Through live projects, workshops, and mentorship programmes, participants will gain practical skills and

insights from industry professionals. This initiative is not only about education but also about fostering a thriving film and TV community in the Scottish Highlands and Moray.

One of the standout features of this programme is its focus on filming in remote areas.
