Postgraduate Research
The Institute for Northern Studies includes one of the largest communities of postgraduate research students (PGRs) within UHI. Our PhD and MRes researchers can be found across the globe, connected through our PGR HUB and calendar of research events. We also have PGR spaces at Scott’s House (Orkney) and the UHI campuses in Shetland and Perth, for those who wish to access them. All academic staff at INS are research-active, ensuring that our PGRs receive supervisory expertise from leading voices in their field. Our PGRs are active participants in our vibrant and supportive research environment, which includes our regular PGR research seminars and personalised personal development plans.
Due to the breadth of academic specialisms within the institute, prospective students are encouraged to browse our academic staff’s profiles. Feel free to contact staff to discuss potential research projects and supervisory arrangements. For any additional information and formal enquiries, please contact Dr Andrew Lind (Acting Head of INS PGR Studies) Andrew.Lind@uhi.ac.uk
