The Institute of Health Research and Innovation is a thriving and dynamic hub. Our experienced health and life sciences researchers, academics and professional services staff can offer a range of services to support your business. From short-term consultancy through to the co-design and conduct of large-scale collaborative projects, we can facilitate access to research, specialist equipment, facilities, and technologies based across the UHI partnership.
We work with businesses, government and non-commercial organisations to tackle a wide range of projects. These can range from individuals providing expert advice for a few hours, to multi-disciplinary teams on multi-year partnerships. We believe healthcare innovation depends on team work and collaboration and we work with a wide range of partners including Highlands and Islands Enterprise, NHS Highland Research Development and Innovation, KTP North of Scotland, and Interface.

The Life Science Innovation Centre located on Inverness Campus is a partnership project between UHI and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. The 2500m² building, opened in 2023, provides facilities for small and medium-sized businesses to work collaboratively with our academics on innovative life sciences projects, right here in the Highlands of Scotland.
