LSI Director Lecture Tour
LSI Director Conchúr Ó Giollagáin has recently returned from a tour of Valencia, Catalonia, and Occitania, where he delivered a series of lectures in various universities and research establishments on topics relating to minority societal dynamics and processes of language minoritisation. His talks also addressed the policy and planning concerns which arise from Language Promotion initiatives when not sufficiently targeted on Language Protection measures.
As lead author of the 2020 Gaelic Crisis in the Vernacular Community study, he took part in lively discussions with the audiences on the implications of the Gaelic Crisis findings and recommendations for other linguistic minorities.
The series of lectures was organised by Acció Cultural del Pais Valencià.
In Valencia his address and subsequent discussion were recorded and placed online.
