Student surveys

content

Surveys are one of the main ways you can share your views and help shape the student experience at UHI. They help us understand what is working well and what can be improved across courses, campuses and study modes, so we can make teaching, courses and support services better.

From Monday 2 February, eligible students will receive an email to their UHI email address inviting them to complete the survey that applies to them. The survey will close on Thursday 30 April 2026. Some students may not be eligible, for example if they have recently started their course, are on a specialist programme, or do not meet the survey criteria.

As a thank you for taking part, everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a £50 Amazon voucher prize draw.

Which survey you receive depends on your level and year of study:

What happens to my feedback?  content

    What happens to my feedback?

    What happens to my feedback?

We read all your comments and review them with the teams responsible for teaching, courses and student support.

We focus first on issues that affect the largest number of students, so changes benefit as many people as possible.

    Some improvements take time:

    • Teaching changes usually happen in the next academic year
    • Course changes must go through formal approval processes
    • Bigger issues need enough feedback to fully understand the problem

If something needs urgent attention, surveys are not the fastest way to raise it. Use the Red Button so we can respond quickly.

See examples of changes made from student feedback in our 'You said, we did' page.

What other surveys may I be asked to complete?

    • End-of-semester module surveys: At the end of each semester, all degree and some Higher National students are asked to complete a short survey about their modules or units. This is your chance to give direct, anonymous feedback to teaching staff on teaching, content, assessment and feedback.
    • Student Satisfaction and Engagement Survey (SSES), sent to all further education (FE) students.
    • Early Student Experience Survey (ESES): From October to November, some academic partners send out this survey to ask students about their first few weeks at UHI.
    • Graduate Outcomes Survey: About 15 months after you finish your studies, you may be invited to complete the Graduate Outcomes Survey. This helps UHI and national organisations understand what students do after graduation and informs future support and career guidance.
