Alumni Ambassadors
We
are building our alumni ambassador community.
We
are looking for a wide variety of alumni ambassadors, who have studied
a variety of different courses, at all of our partner college
locations. Interested? Find out more here!
Meet our newest ambassador:
Ashlie McIvor
BSc
(Hons) Marine Science, 2018
"I am currently a la Caixa doctoral
fellow at the University of Lisbon contracted by the Marine and
Environmental Science Centre (MARE-ARDITI) in Madeira Island,
Portugal.
My time at SAMS UHI really shaped me and
exposed me to all components of marine science. I had many mentors
who encouraged me and supported my ambitious goals; these mentors
alongside the diverse course load opened many doors that have allowed
me to excel at each subsequent opportunity.
I want to be like them still, and I want to
offer similar opportunities that I was presented with. Being an
alumni ambassador gives me the opportunity to express my gratitude in
addition to supporting other like-minded students who have as many
questions as I had at the beginning of my academic career."

Jonathan Calllis
HNC
Gamekeeping with Wildlife Management, 1999
"I currently am responsible for the asset
management of half of the lineside that forms Scotland’s Railway and
act as a technical specialist advising and assisting colleagues
across Scotland. I have had various roles managing the trees and
vegetation, fencing and other assets on the land either side of the
railway network. I have become a Chartered Forester and have
been lucky enough to have represented my railway specialism as a
member of cross industry committees and at events, both here and
internationally. I love my job, it is very varied and challenging -
and even 22 years on, I am still proud to share that I spent two
great years learning many new skills and gaining valuable practical
workplace experiences at (then) Thurso College."

Maths at a higher level to be able to apply for the PGDE next summer!
This has been a long journey for me and my final career is in sight.
Studying online, part time has been amazing as it allowed me to take
