Where are you now?
We
are launching a new campaign and would love for you to take
part!
The
aim of the campaign is to highlight what our alumni can achieve and
will feature across all our social media channels, website, and case
study materials.
You
only need to answer a few short questions and attach a high-quality photo of yourself
(professional would be great if you have one). It is important the
photo is high-quality, with no one else in the photo.
We
look forward to hearing from you!
And
keep reading for the latest news and events across UHI.
Best
wishes,
The
alumni engagement team

Thinking
about postgraduate study? UHI has been rated best in Scotland
for postgraduate experience, second year in a row!
In
the 2023 Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey, we received an
amazing score of 92% student satisfaction! This was the highest
rating of any Scottish university and was ranked third out of the 101
participating institutions across the UK.
UHI
alumni ambassador, Dr Rona Campbell initially completed a MSc in sustainable rural
development, and said: “I
would never have done this without UHI’s online study options and
technology and the leadership and enthusiasm of my programme leader.
I have since completed my PhD with UHI and I'm due to graduate in
October.”
Christopher
Arnold completed a MA in health and wellbeing, and said: “The MA gave me confidence and
abilities in researching subjects and critical analysis of research
material. The part-time, remote working and self-directed approach
with weekly lectures for some modules fitted well with my life and
other commitments.”
Don't
forget - eligible UHI alumni will receive a 10% discount on postgraduate courses
and research programmes!

Lochaber graduate selected for
the UHI Highland Society of London Prize
Louise
Paget, who studied sustainable development at UHI West Highland, won
the prize for her dissertation on ‘Covid-19 and attitudes to local
food production in Lochaber’. Her research found that there was an
increase in both the production and consumption of local food in
Lochaber during lockdown, due to factors including improved access
and a desire to support local businesses. The study concluded that
consumers would like to see more local food production and that this
should be supported by improved policy and food strategies.

Peter May Fiction Prize winner
Highland
Theological College student
Jenny Mewes has won the prestigious Peter May fiction prize! The
£1,000 annual prize is donated by international bestselling crime
writer, screenwriter and novelist, Peter May. Jenny's winning story
was written from the perspective of a house in rural South Africa
amidst the apartheid regime, based on some of her childhood
experiences.
Peter,
said: “This was beautifully written, with professional assurance,
taking an unlikely premise - a building and its memories as a
principal character - and turning it into a short story that somehow
managed to encompass the history of apartheid in the recounting of
one man’s life.”
