Orion Group gifts engineering scholarships to rising student stars

Five talented engineering students at the University of the Highlands and Islands are to benefit from scholarship support donated by the Orion Group, a worldwide leader in providing contract and permanent personnel to the engineering industry.

Aimed at students who are completing their first year at university and who are keen to pursue a career in the engineering sector, the scholarship will support them with £1250 each year until they graduate with an honours degree in three years’ time.

This year’s successful students are: James Reade, studying electrical engineering and Sean Fraser, studying engineering systems at North Highland College UHI in Thurso; Larah Ann Macleod and Shaun Graham studying engineering systems at Lews Castle College UHI in Stornoway; and Hannah Barbour studying aircraft engineering at Perth College UHI.

This generous scholarship from Orion Group is a fantastic example of business recognising the benefits of investment in young people in education. These five scholars are worthy recipients and we look forward to supporting them throughout their studies and on into their chosen careers.”
