Psychology students gather in Inverness
Over 130 psychology students from across the Highlands and Islands are gathered in Inverness this week. The students, who are studying for a BSc in psychology with the University of the Highlands and Islands, are taking part in a five day residential programme as part of their course.
As the university’s psychology degree is delivered online to learners around the region, the annual event brings together students from Inverness, Moray, Perth, Lews Castle, Shetland, Orkney and North Highland Colleges UHI. Attendees will hear from guest speakers and take part in lab sessions and field trips over the course of the residential, which runs from Monday 24 to Friday 28 March.
Wendy Maltinsky, psychology programme leader at the university, said: “Our students invest a great deal in this week and the excitement and activity is remarkable. Not only is this an important academic event for them, but it is also valuable for them to connect and re-connect with each other socially. The work they produce through the week is of a very high standard and is displayed on the Friday when we have visiting speakers from around the UK to give lectures in forensic, clinical, social, occupational and health psychology.”
