Final year UHI Moray Fine Art honours degree students invite visitors to large-scale exhibition
Fourth-year Fine Art BA (Hons) students will showcase over 40 works of art in an ambitious showcase of towering structures and large-scale paintings and installations.
The students work will be open to an invited audience on Friday the evening of Friday 7th June and then will run the following week from Monday 10th June finishing on Saturday 15th June. Members of the public can view the exhibition that week from 9.30am until 4.30pm.
Classrooms and studio facilities will be transformed into escapist installations and exhibition spaces incorporating textiles, paint and sculpture. Students will showcase up to twenty new paintings of varying styles including gothic portraiture and colourful abstractions.
The eight fine art students have covered an impressive range of themes from healing through making, the power of touch, rewiring our relationships to ecology, Gaelic culture and identity, social norms around gender, imagery’s evocation of memories, a unique blend of classical portraiture with punk culture and the challenge posed by artificial intelligence to art.
The students’ work takes its creative inspiration from a range of artists such as Kiki Smith, David Lynch, Rembrandt, Jean Michael Basquiat and many more.
The work is a culmination of a four-year Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art programme. Two of its recent alumni featured in the prestigious New Contemporaries exhibit at the Royal Scottish Academy.
