Shaping Futures: Modern Apprenticeships at UHI Moray
As part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2025 we break down explore how Modern Apprenticeships shape futures in Moray and beyond.
Modern Apprenticeships, funded through Skills Development Scotland (SDS), provide a unique opportunity for businesses of all sizes to train anyone over the age of 16 nationally recognized qualifications while they work as part of your team.
Why Choose Modern Apprenticeships?
Modern Apprenticeships are designed to benefit both businesses and apprentices. For businesses, this programme ensures you have highly qualified and skilled staff, which is crucial for competitiveness, growth, and sustainability. For apprentices, it offers a chance to gain valuable work experience and earn a industry recognised qualification (for example a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ)) with opportunities for further study through Graduate Apprenticeships.
Tailored Support for Your Business
UHI Moray offers a range of frameworks across various sectors, ensuring that the training is tailored to meet your business needs. From the initial stages of advertising for an apprentice to developing a training plan, UHI Moray provides comprehensive support throughout the apprenticeship, which can last from 12 months to 4 years depending on the framework.
Who Can Apply?
The Modern Apprenticeship programme is open to all 16–19-year-olds in employment, with potential funding available for those aged 20-24 and 25+ in certain sectors. This inclusivity ensures that a wide range of young people can benefit from the programme, contributing to a diverse and skilled workforce.
