The SNP MP for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey gave a talk attended by students from NC Social Science Level 6, HNC Social Science, BAH Criminology, HNC Accounting and NC Art and Design Level 6  courses.

They discussed a variety of topics including the war in Gaza, depopulation in the Highlands and Islands, the cost of living, transport issues for young people, housing concerns, vaping and the ‘othering’ of people.

Drew said: “It was really helpful to hear from so many students at UHI Inverness about the issues that matter most to them and their families. Young people today are grappling with skyrocketing household costs, dwindling chances of renting a home - never mind buying one - and restricted travel opportunities due to Brexit.

“As their MP, I want to listen and do all I can to help with the very real challenges they are facing. As well as talking about the challenges around student poverty and the consequences of the cost-of-living crisis, it was also great to chat with the students about wider politics and opportunities for our region.”
