Maureen Hammond starts a PhD on ‘Badenoch Textiles: Economy, Innovation and Identity in the Eighteenth Century’

Maureen Hammond has now commenced the AHRC-funded ‘Badenoch Textiles: Economy, Innovation and Identity in the Eighteenth Century’ PhD with UHI! The studentship explores material culture, especially textiles, as evidence for the construction of identities in the central Highlands during the eighteenth century. Maureen will work closely with the Highland Folk Museum / High Life Highland (the project’s collaborative partner) and will be supervised by a team drawn from across the University: Dr Jim MacPherson (Director of Studies, Centre for History); Dr Kristin-Lindfield-Ott (Inverness College UHI); Professor Hugh Cheape (Sabhal Mòr Ostaig UHI); and Dr Graham Watson (Head of Resources, High Life Highland)
