King James VI Hospital Trust [KJVIHT]

KJVIHT is a charitable institution first founded by Royal Charter in AD1569 for the purposes of “pious and divine uses” and “to relieve diverse forms of want and necessity”. In this capacity, the Trust has served the citizens of Perth for over 450 years.
Today, the Trust focuses on helping Perth citizens who might otherwise suffer from a ‘want of accommodation’. They do this through the provision of sheltered apartment accommodation at the King James VI Hospital buildings, a Category A Listed historic property which first opened in 1752 and has since served Perth as an infirmary, poorhouse, school and reformatory. The Trust also disburses funds to countless causes and individuals in fulfilment of their charitable purposes.

The Guildry Incorporation of the City of Perth or the “Guildry” as it is familiarly known, is of great antiquity, and is the direct descendant of the Merchant Guild which received its royal recognition in the famous Charter which King William the Lion granted to the City of Perth in 1210. Perth Guildry was an early friendly society, it supported members who had fallen on hard times, infirm members, widows and students. Nowadays the Guildry is a charitable organisation which continues to provide support for its members by way of bursaries and pensions while also supporting deserving local causes.
