Joint award for INS dissertation prize
Tara Athanasiou and Peter Church have been jointly awarded this year’s INS prize for best dissertation. Tara’s dissertation investigated the construction and development of gendered identities over time in the Viking Age diasporic island hubs of Orkney and the Isle of Man. Peter’s research focused on the nature of Viking raids on Irish church settlements during the first Viking Age. Both dissertations demonstrate exceptional levels of scholarship and make a unique contribution to their respective fields. Congratulations to both winners!
