Viking and Early Medieval Studies Launch Event a Great Success
The launch event for the Institute for Northern Studies' Viking and Early Medieval Studies (VEMS) took place on Monday, December 16, 2024, and was considered a great success by the attendees.
Hosted at UHI Perth, the event featured speakers from various universities and partners across Europe who gathered to discuss their research and explore future collaborations.
Professor Alex Sanmark stated, “We were overwhelmed by the response to our invitations for the launch event of Viking and Early Medieval Studies (VEMS). Over 25 people attended in person, and an additional 80 participated online from across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia, joining speakers from our international partner institutions. The creation of VEMS will enhance our research and teaching efforts moving forward and will allow us to build on our already strong capabilities in this area. We look forward to collaborating with both new and established partners in the exciting field of Viking and Early Medieval studies.”
The new VEMS webpage was launched at the event, detailing the activities of VEMS, and it is now live on our main UHI Institute for Northern Studies website.
Thanks to UHI Perth for hosting the event and contributing to its success.
