Wellbeing and Co-creation
Recordings of the “Togail ar Guthan/Raising our Voices” hybrid conference and webinar for North Uist Historical Society's wellbeing project have been made available online, using the Island Voices YouTube channel.
An all-day summative conference cum online webinar was held on 7th October under the banner of Comann Eachdraidh Uibhist a Tuath (CEUT - North Uist Historical Society), the lead partner in the Ideas Fund-supported project "Aire air Sunnd" (Attention to Wellbeing). In line with the CIALL philosophy and goals, Gordon Wells has been representing the UHI Language Sciences Institute interest with particular reference to Gaelic throughout the project, alongside colleagues from the University of Aberdeen, with the University of St Andrews also taking part in the first phase.
In light of the pre-existing record of collaboration between CEUT and the Island Voices/Guthan nan Eilean language capture and curation project, much of the project's progress since its inception has been recorded on the dedicated Aire air Sunnd Island Voices page. The conference itself had a very full programme, with a good mix of formats – including talks, discussions, and video inserts – with both local and remote speakers and participants representing a wide range of interests.
Scotland’s Deputy First Minister, Kate Forbes, delivered a keynote message in Gaelic and English.
The forum on "Co-creation: Communities working with Researchers" included a contribution from Gordon Wells, speaking from his experience as both researcher and community resident.
All seven sessions are available to view as a special Island Voices playlist.
