Dr Beth Mouat is UHI’s Dean of Research and Innovation. Based in Shetland, she works with academic partners, deans, research leaders and professional services colleagues to strengthen research activity and impact across UHI, and leads the development of the university’s research and innovation strategy, including preparation for REF 2029.
An experienced researcher and research leader, Beth has a strong background in marine science and applied research. Before taking up her current role in April 2026, she was Director of Research, Enterprise and Impact at UHI Shetland, providing strategic leadership for research, knowledge exchange and innovation. Her work has included building partnerships with industry, government and communities at local, national and international levels.
