This session, part practical demonstration, part pedagogical overview, is designed to introduce you to UHI's approved ePortfolio platform, Mahara and how to use it effectively with students. Used to its fullest, Mahara can be used to offer students an online space to create, collect, curate, and connect their academic experiences and showcase their learning achievements. It can also be used to run smaller scale activities, like blogs. We will touch on the breadth of possibilities, drawing on examples from UHI courses.
Presenters
Marion MacDonald is an Educational Technologist in IT & Digital Infrastructure and has responsibility for the Mahara ePortfolio system, the Media library, Turnitin and Ouriginal, Clickview, LinkedIn Learning and various Brightspace integrations.
Andrew Gibson is Curriculum Innovation Lead within the university’s Learning and Teaching Academy. Building on a Masters in Distance Education, his work at UHI has involved analysing existing materials and methods used by teaching staff, supervising the creation of student-centred learning materials, and designing and delivering targeted staff development especially around Brightspace, accessibility and, recently, AI.
