Session Outline
From 2018, the LTA has co-ordinated small cohorts of participants each year on the AdvanceHE’s Aurora Leadership Development Programme for women. Forty-three participants, from across the university, have completed the programme with evaluative studies highlighting the highly positive impact of the programme on their professional practice. The LTA supports participants to embed their leadership skills through a range of professional development opportunities including UHI Aurora Action Learning Sets; taking part in Aurora promotion webinars, the panel selection process; mentoring of new participants and presenting at LTA events, webinars and conferences.
As part of the Women’s Network, this one hour session we will demonstrate how to facilitate Action Learning and the roles within the set, hosted by the Aurora participants from 25-26 cohort.
What is an Action Learning Set?
Action Learning Sets can be a powerful method for learning and self-development. They explore real work-based challenges within a group setting utilising a set of pre-determined opened ended questions which allows the presenter to reflect and discover their own solutions or action plans. This is a unique tool which moves away from the typical setting of advice giving or mentoring and focuses on coaching mechanisms to empower the individual facing the challenge.
This session is open to all who are interested in exploring the tool.
