Dr Elizabeth Ritchie to present at the International Agricultural History Society conference in Lexington, Kentucky

This week Elizabeth Ritchie of the Centre for History will be presenting at the International Agricultural History Society conference in Lexington, Kentucky. As part of a panel with several colleagues from the University of Guelph, where Elizabeth did her PhD, she will discuss the immigrant farming strategies of Scots in Upper Canada in the early nineteenth century. She will also be taking up her new position on the editorial board of the journal 'Agricultural History'. Elizabeth is particularly excited about the fieldtrip which takes delegates on a tour of a colonial Shaker village and farm. This four day event will be a great opportunity to meet other academics from across the globe who are interested in thinking about land use, agriculture and humans' interaction with animals, and whose ideas can inform Elizabeth's research on Scots and Scotland.
