Dr Iain Robertson to join the UHI Centre for History as a Reader
Dr Iain Robertson will join the Centre for History in September as a Reader. He is currently Reader in Historical Geography at the University of Gloucestershire. Working alongside the Head of the Centre, Dr David Worthington, in his new position, Iain will be given the task of developing further the centre’s research culture, as well as teaching. His principal areas of research are heritage studies and exploration of the social and cultural history of local community and landscape change with a particular emphasis on historical and cultural processes that shaped the landscape of nineteenth and early twentieth-century Highland Scotland. The focus of this research is popular protest and sense of place, personal and local identity visible in the oral tradition of particular places and events.
