Christie's "Shaetlan voice" in a range of registers can be sampled through Island Voices' video links

Having previously explored aspects of Jamaican use in Wales and Gaelic in Shetland, the Island Voices language capture and curation project has now profiled Shetlandic poet Christie Williamson in similar fashion, "in exile" in Glasgow.

This forms another part of the CIALL-supported experimental extension of the Island Voices recording model to new languages and contexts, while also incorporating samples of poetic verse alongside established scripted documentary narrative and unscripted authentic speech interview formats.

All films in the collection can be accessed through the Island Voices website in either landscape or phone-friendly portrait layout.
